The European Grand Prix at Donnington  was a new venue for Formula 1 in 1993, the idea being for that particular race on the calendar would be held at a different venue each year. The two Williams-Renault FW15C cars were superior during the practice sessions, but on race day it rained. Senna started from fourth and dropped to fifth in the first corner. He then embarked on what remains as one of the most memorable laps in F1's history; he emerged from the final corner of that first lap in the lead. The weather changed constantly and Prost, for example, came to the pits seven times. Making better calls, Senna only stopped four times and won the race almost a lap ahead of Damon Hill in the faster of the two Williams. Prost finished third, a lap behind. With two victories in the first three races, it looked like a very promising start to the season for McLaren. It was, however, the brilliance of Senna in changeable conditions that had made the difference and the outright pace of the MP4/8.

German GP, 30th July 2000, Hockenheimring

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello got his first-ever Formula One victory after taking part from 124 F1 races. Rubens qualified 18th on Saturday, just five minutes before the end of session. His team-mate Michael Schumacher was luckier in qualifying by setting the second fastest time in qualifying, splitting the two McLaren-Mercedes. The race would not last long for the German driver, who retired soon due to a first corner incident. Rubens stormed from behind and about half-race he was already third. His pit stops dropped him a couple of positions back, but the rain and a spectator who decided to take a stroll onto the track helped the Brazilian to get his maiden win; he kept out in the wet with dry tyres when everyone else decided to change to wets. His prowess in the wet was reminiscent of a certain Ayrton Senna's mastery of wet weather conditions, a thought that probably crossed Rubinho's mind judging by his display of emotion on the podium.
Ayrton was no doubt smiling down on him.
